Thermography: The gentle approach for breast health screening

We are excited to announce that our office will be the first site offering Thermography on Staten Island. We have become affiliated with Thermographic Diagnostic Imaging and will be offering this innovative service to women on a bimonthly basis.

What is thermography?

Thermography is the gentle approach to breast health screening.

Thermography utilizes state of the art, FDA approved infra red technology to look at the breast from a physiologic standpoint. It is well known that physiology predates anatomy in all venues of medicine, sometimes by as much as by seven to ten years. In this way, the potential exists for Thermography to guide early intervention of a proactive nature to facilitate the best possible outcomes.

Thermography detects the physiologic changes on a cellular level in the breast tissue that have been shown to correlate with cancerous or pre- cancerous states.  The screening is completely non-invasive, with no compression or radiation.  Thermography allows women to maintain their dignity while empowering them to be proactive in their health and wellness concerns.

Because there is no contraindication to Thermography, it can be started as soon as women develop breasts. It is safe for breastfeeding women and women with prior surgery or implants.

It is not covered outright by insurances, but you will receive a superbill to submit to your plan. Some PPOs reimburse 30% of the cost. Credit Cards, including from Health Savings Accounts, can be used for payment.
